Happy 30th Birthday to Me!!!

Oh, the dreaded 30th birthday! Well it is here and I would not feel a day older if my daughter had not just turned 3 on July 2nd. What is about kids that once you have them time only flies by so much faster. Well I had a wonderful birthday to say the least. We (me, Makena and the hubby) are taking a cruise at the end of this month so I thought that was my birthday present but my wonderful husband surprised me with a beautiful new Tag watch. HUGE SURPRISE...

All the birthday festivities started on Saturday when my mother threw a fabulous party for all the July babies (my daughter(2), step-dad(9), god-mother(60) and me (14)). It was absolutely wonderful, I love having parties when all the family comes to celebrate.
Sunday- I celebrated with my dad's family and went to dinner.
Monday (actual birthday) - I took off work and spent time with hubby and Makena just playing all day and then my mom came over and brought me an icecream cake and went to dinner with us(step-dad was out of town).
Tuesday - I thought by taking off that my co-workers would forget and not decorate my office, etc. HAHAHA...joke was on me. They decorated my office with balloons, streamers you name it, it was present. They all ganged up on me because usually I am the one decorating offices and baking cakes.

Well 30 turned out not to be so bad. I am very grateful to have such wonderful family and friends. I love you all! Thanks for making something that could have been bad GREAT!!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Makena!!!

Happy 3rd Birthday my precious little girl. Wow, how time flies! I still remember the day I found out you were a girl, it was February 14th 2005. I was so excited!! The doctor said,"looks like we have a little princess," and boy did he ever hit the nail on the head. I sang, read and talked to you everyday when you were in my belly.
You have been a dream come true and watching you grow up is the best reward anyone could ever have in life. You are so loved and spoiled and must of all a truly happy child. I was so proud of you this past weekend with all your thank yous and kisses and hugs. I am truly amazed by your wonderful personality and ability to light up a room in just a matter of seconds. God has blessed me to have you for my child and I thank him everyday. Here's to my little princess.

Tiny Talk Tuesday

Makena went and stayed with Mimi and Papa this past Friday and she had such a wonderful time swimming and playing in the pool. My sister happened to be at home so she got to see Makena too.

M(almost 3): (Makena looking at her wrist) How about another 30 minutes?
Aunt Doola: How about 5 more minutes because we have to eat?
M: What are we eating?
Aunt Doola: Chicken and Rice
M: Okay, that will do.

Welcome Baby Chance!!!

My very good friends Kasi & Shawn finally had their 1st baby on Tuesday. He is so sweet and adorable...makes me want to have more, maybe. Kasi was overdue and had a hard time at first but eventually everything worked itself out and Chance decided he was ready to make his first appearance. He was 7lb 13oz and 20 3/4 inches. I told Makena that Aunt Kasi had her baby and her reply was,"the one in her bell-y." She is so excited!!!

Motherhood is PRICELESS!!!

This picture represents a very important person in my life whom is no longer with us. This is a picture of pride, honor and pure joy.

This is my great-grandmother Lillie on her 90th birthday holding my daughter, Makena who was at that time a 5th generation. I say was because my great-grandmother passed away last year.

She is the strongest woman I had ever met. She raised 5 children on her own due to the loss of both of her husbands at a young age. She was the "Rock" of our family and I think about her all the time. She loved and lived for everyone else and no matter what she always made you feel like you were the only one in the room when she was talking to you.

She was so happy when she found out I was pregnant that the Mother's Day before Makena was born she had stood up at church when they were honoring mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers. She stood up when the Pastor asked for all mothers to stand up she did and as he went through grandmothers and great-grandmothers she continued to stand and kept standing even when everyone else sat back down. The Pastor looked over at my great-grandmother because she was still standing and he asked her if she was okay and she said, "why, yes sir but I am also a great-great grandmother," everyone clapped and congratulated her. She was so happy. Her smile was worth it all...enjoy!!! I love you Grandma
